Let’s Begin Attitude is Everything Summary :
Chapter : Success Begins in the Mind
Success is a state of mind. If you want success, start thinking of yourself as a success. — Dr. Joyce Brothers
Think of your attitude as the mental filter through which you experience the world. Some people see the world through the filter of optimism (the glass being half full) while others see life through a filter of pessimism (the glass being half empty).
The person with the negative attitude thinks “I CAN’T.” The person with the positive attitude thinks “I CAN.” The person with the negative attitude sees limitations. The person with the positive attitude sees possibilities.
The person with the negative attitude sees limitations. The person with the positive attitude sees possibilities.
The advice given in the lesson is to wash our mental window, so we can control our mental attitude.
Chapter : You are a Human Magnet
Whether you think you can — or think you can’t — you’re right! — Henry Ford
The message of this lesson can be summed up in a single quote by Earl Nightingale – “We become what we think about.” author states the idea of ‘dominant thought’.
Robert Collier offered this insight: “There is nothing on earth you cannot have — once you have mentally accepted the fact that you can have it.”
The key word here is DOMINANT. You can’t expect positive results when you spend 10 seconds a day thinking positively… and the remaining 16 waking hours dwelling on negative outcomes.
Your beliefs brought you to where you are today, and your thinking from this point forward will take you to where you’ll be in the future.
Chapter : Picture your Way to Success
The author asks the readers to create mental movies in the mind, picturing things and milestones they wished to achieve. At the same time, we have to get rid of our old rubbish mental images, which remind us of failure, negativity, and disappointments.
We can create new mental movies whenever we choose to do so. And when we develop (and concentrate on) new images that evoke powerful feelings and sensations.
Remember that you’re the producer, director, script writer, lighting coordinator, costume designer and casting director of your own mental movies.
The more sights, sounds, smells, tastes and touches you put in your pictures, the more powerful the “pull” for you to make your vision a reality.
Chapter : Make A Commitment And You Will Move Mountains
Author mentions the book ‘The ultimate secret to getting absolutely everything you want’ by Mike Hemaki. He says, the key to getting what you want is the ‘willingness to do whatever it takes’ to accomplish your goals.
If you’ve made a commitment to accomplish a goal, you can overcome temporary defeats… and you will triumph!
Author Says When you have the willingness to do whatever it takes, the “right” steps are often suddenly revealed to you. You’ll meet people you never could have planned to meet. Doors will unexpectedly open for you.
Chapter : Turn Your Problems Into Opportunities
Through problems and difficulties, especially those which involve loss or deprivation, you develop a deeper appreciation for many aspects of your life. It’s trite but true — you don’t usually appreciate something until it’s taken away from you.
When you muster all of your courage and determination to overcome an obstacle, you feel competent and gain confidence. You have a greater feeling of self-worth and you carry these positive feelings into subsequent activities.
Chapter : Your Words Blaze a Trial
The author says that words have immense power. They can build your future, destroy opportunities or help maintain the status quo. Your choice of words defines your personality.
Here Author Says Remember, it’s up to you to speak in a way that will move you toward what you want in life. Therefore, use words that are consistent with the path you truly wish to be on… take action along those lines… and watch yourself begin to travel in that wonderful direction!
Chapter : Stop Complaining
Nobody wants to hear about our pains and problems. As William Penn said, “the secret of happiness is to count your blessings while others are adding up their troubles.” Jeff says that complaining is a major problem in all of us, whereas it doesn’t help anyone.
The people who don’t complain very much (and those who speak positively) are a joy to be around. Decide to join that group — so people won’t have to cross the street when they see you coming!.
Optimistic people… people with great attitudes… tend to have a sense of what’s truly important in life.
